The Salzkammagut, east of Salzburg, Austria, is a dramatic, mountainous area with beautiful lakes and exquisite vistas.
We’ll spend four nights in this wonderful region, driving the exciting roads, seeing the best scenery and exploring some fantastic locations.
Our trip will take us right off the beaten track to discover lesser-known gems.

We’ll meet at our first hotel in the Rhine Valley.
We’ve reserved a spa hotel with swimming and spa facilities, so why not let us book you a night or two extra before the tour starts, so you can relax there before we set off?
Otherwise we recommend that we book your Eurotunnel crossing on the evening on the 6th June with a hotel in Calais, so you can get straight on the road in the morning.

After your pre-booked channel crossing, you’ll carry on to our hotel in the picturesque Rhine Valley, where our team will welcome you. This scenic region, known for its charming landscapes and historic charm, sets the perfect tone for the start of your adventure.
On the first evening, a specially arranged group meal will provide a warm and relaxed setting for you to get acquainted with your fellow travelers. It’s an excellent opportunity to connect before the trip.

HEADING FOR BAVARIA

Our first day on the road together is about getting some miles under our belt on the fast and efficient German Autobahns.
Our hotel is near the Bavarian city of Munich, which puts us in a great place to hit the stunning roads of Austria the next day.

AUSTRIAN LAKES DRIVE

Day 3 is an introduction to the impressive area where we’ll be staying for the next few nights.
We’ll be heading east from Munich and completing a drive around the northern lakes of the region before reaching our 4-night spa hotel, perched on the shore of Wolfgangsee.

WOLFGANGSEE

Day 4 will see us exploring the local area, starting with a funicular train ride to the summit of Schafberg and its dazzling views. In the afternoon you could explore St-Wolfgang, take a ferry to St-Gilgen, or relax in the hotel spa.

HALLSTAT LOOP

We’ll take a circular route of the area to the south of us today, taking in the Postalm Panoramic Road, The Koppenpass, and several superb lakes in the loop. It’s a sensational route with something for everyone to enjoy.

A WIDER LOOP

A slightly wider loop today, taking in the greater area. We’ll drive lots of scenic roads, as well as take a cablecar up to Austria’s highest suspension bridge and an ice palace.

GROSSGLOCKNER

Today we’ll take on the mighty Grossglockner Alpine Road. It will be an early start, and we’ll finish our day at our hotel for two nights in the German region of Berchtesgaden.

BERCHTESGADEN

We’ll spend today exploring this region, infamous as Hitler’s Alpine retreat. We’ll ride a summer toboggan, drive the Rossfeld Panormastrasse, and take the cablecar up the Jenner for impressive views.

TO FRANCE

It’s a longer stint on the Autobahns today as we make progress homeward.
We’ll spend our last evening together at our hotel not far from Strasbourg.

This morning we say our farewells and make our way back to Calais for our channel crossings in the late afternoon.
If you would prefer to extend your holiday, you could spend a few more nights at our spa hotel to relax and explore the local area.
