ARRIVAL IN DUMFRIES & GALLOWAY
Let the adventure begin

We meet at our first hotel, a luxurious country house and spa not far from Castle Douglas. You have the day free to travel from wherever you are in the UK, and we’ll be spending the night here. This gives you the chance to unpack, settle in, and tackle the first day of driving with an unladen car. Tomorrow, you’ll be ready for a hearty breakfast before we hit the road.
Dinner for this night is included and will be an excellent opportunity to meet your fellow travellers.

Day 1
DAY 1
THE WILD WEST & GALLOWAY FOREST
~140 miles
~300 miles, 5-6 hours driving time

Our first driving day sees us heading west to explore the unspoilt wilderness of Dumfries and Galloway. We’ll trace the curves of The Queens Way through the majestic Galloway Forest Park—a true driver’s playground. The route takes us down to the Mull of Galloway, Scotland’s most southerly point, offering breathtaking views across to Ireland and the Isle of Man. After a day of engaging driving and coastal sea breezes, we loop back to the comforts of our Dumfriesshire hotel to relax and recount the day’s highlights over dinner.

Wales – day 2 & 3
Day 1
DAY 2
THE SCOTTISH BORDERS & KIELDER WATER
~160 miles
~180 miles of driving

Today we criss-cross the historic Scottish Borders. We kick off with the sensational Mennock Pass, a ribbon of tarmac that winds dramatically through the Lowther Hills, guaranteed to put a smile on any driving enthusiast’s face. The route flows through Biggar and Moffat, taking in the tranquil shores of St Mary’s Loch. We then weave south through Selkirk, Hawick, and the vast expanses of Kielder Forest, crossing the border into England. Our destination is a magnificent spa and golf resort set in the Northumberland countryside, our home for the next two nights.

Day 1
DAY 3
THE NORTHUMBERLAND COAST & CASTLES
~150 miles
~300 miles, 5-6 hours driving time

Day three contrasts the rolling hills with the dramatic Northumberland Coastline. We drive north-east towards the historic border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, before hugging the coast. There will be the chance to admire the imposing silhouette of Bamburgh Castle standing guard over the North Sea. We’ll enjoy sweeping, open roads back past Alnwick and Morpeth, taking in the views at Carter Bar, returning to our Northumberland resort with plenty of time to enjoy a spa treatment, a round of golf, or a relaxed drink on the terrace.
Dinner for this night is included and will be a great opportunity to share stories with your fellow travellers.
